"59372 98324 19043 78903 95320...".

So, my wife and I finally got around to watching the first few episodes of the first season of Lost. And so far its been as interesting and entertaining as promised.

One of the scenes that I thought was the most interesting was the one in which several of the stranded people climb a mountain in order to try to get a signal on a dying transceiver they have. Instead of being able to send a distress call, they discover a mysterious SOS message being repeated over and over.

That call reminded me of the mysterious Number Stations. Number Stations are mysterious short wave radio signals that usually do nothing but recite strings of numbers. Often with a womans voice and in language ranging from English to German to Spanish or even more code.

All available evidence seems to point to them being used for either espionage purposes of drug running.

I had a breif interest in number stations, and still think that they are creepy-cool. You can read more about them here, and can listen to recorded samples of them here.

Something about listening to them just gives me the shivers. Like a good ghost story.

If all this sounds too much like liberal conspiracy theory rubbish, you can instead focus on a 50 year old man dragging a truck around a parking lot with his penis:

Whole Story
