I have no idea what's going on here....

I really have no idea what's going on with this blog. Since helping found The Bad Genious several months ago. I've basically let this blog just go fallow. I've been posting pretty regularly over at Strange and Benevolent (Did you hear? I'm going to be a dad and stuff!), but I've been treating poor old General Admissions like its a fine wine: Leaving it alone to see if it gets better with age.

Anyhow, after watching several friends blogs get facelifts, I thought that it was time to give this blog one too. Granted, that means I'll actually have to start posting on it again, but let's deal with this all in "baby step" terms, shall we?

Speaking of Baby Steps™, I'll probably be making more changes to the format over the next couple of days (...more likely weeks), but tonight I made a few tweaks worth mentioning.

First off, as you might have noticed I've changed the overall look and feel of the blog. I think it means I'm goth or something. But, y'know, one of those goths who's big on the color white, because its ironic. Actually, I just needed a change of pace to get myself excited about this blog again. So, we'll see how long it lasts.

In addition, I've changed the format of my "General Friends" ...it's the new blogger system that shows their latest posts. So, now you can actually see which of my friends actually post on their blogs. And which make me look productive (I'm looking at you Ozten!).

Anyhow, that's it for today, but hopefully this will actually make me start posting again semi-regularly on this thing. Or at the very least clean up my tag list.

I am a Bad Genious. Or am I?

First off, sorry it's been quite around here. Life's been busy. But, beyond that usual blogger excuse, I've also been working on a new online project for the last couple weeks: The Bad Genious blog.

The Bad Genious started out as a small online message board community of comic book collectors and friends. For the last couple years, we've been meeting online on a daily basis (usually as a quick escape from our respective jobs) to chat about comics and pretty much anything else we've seen, watched, read or listened to. Over the years, most of us have had the opportunity to meet at least one other person in life, and some of become very close real-life friends. Heck, two people even got married.

Well, last week, rather suddenly, we decided to try creating a comic collector's blog with the members of the message board serving as the contributing writers. All of us were writing review already on our little message board, and several of us had even attempted to incorporate comic news and reviews into our own personal blogs (including my many awkward attempts here).

So, now that we are a week into developing it and creating content for it, I feel confident mentioning it here. We've still got some kinks to work out, but I'm genuinely excited about what we are doing. And, if you have any interest in comic books, and it's surrounding culture, I hope you'll stop by at some point and check out the Bad Genious.

I promise I'll still be posting things here, but at least for now, expect my entries to be a little sparse. Also, keep your eye on Strange and Benevolent. It's been quiet the last couple months, but I think that Sarah and I will be making some posts there soon too.

General Theory of Creativity

About a month ago, with fairly little fanfair, I set up a blog showcasing my illustration and design work, GeneralCreativity.blogspot.com. Now, I'm excited to announce that I've got the first version of my new portfolio website up and running: GeneralTheoryOfCreativity.com. I'm hoping to continue to expand and improve it, but I'm still happy with how it loos so far. So please, if you have a moment, check it out.

There and back again

We're back!

My lovely wife and I returned to the States a little over a week ago. Our Round the World Trip was a massive success, and was definitely one of those Once In A Lifetime Opportunities™ that all the kids are talking about today. But, I won't ramble too much about that here, since Sarah and I have rambled enough about it over at Strange and Benevolent.

But, needless to say, we've returned safe and sound to home in the Pacific Northwest. In addition, over the last week I've been messing around with General Admissions; updating its Look and Feel™ and trying to update it to more than just the standard Blogger template. (I'm still not entirely sure I'll be keeping the new "150% More General" photo header. I mean, you can pretty much count my pores.)

In the coming weeks, I'm hoping to start posting here again. my plan is to have this be the blog that I'll ramble about comics, movies, books, strange things I've found online, art, maybe a little politics and pretty much anything that comes to mind. In addition, Sarah and I will continue to update Strange and Benevolent. It will be the blog in which we continue to talk about our lives, post personal photos and generally keep people up to date with what we are doing (which should make it a smash hit with our parents... and that's pretty much it).

Finally, I've made a small update to the Tater Board. Instead of its URL being a long string of unmemorable numbers, its now simple tater.activeboard.com, which should make it easier for the three people who use it to remember and access it.

Anyhow, hopefully in the coming days, I'll have some additional things to ramble about. But, until then, Ninja!

Strange and (Hopefully) Coherent

So, as most you know, my wife and I are a couple weeks out from departing on a seven month Round the World Trip. To this end, I've set up Strange and Benevolent: Chronicling Sarah and Tyler's 2007 Round the World Adventure.

The unfortunate side effect of the trip is that General Admission will probably be quiet until my return in September. But, please, check out Strange And Benevolent. I promise to try to not make it too self-indulgent. And, as an added bonus, you'll get to read entries by my often-mentioned, lovely wife, Sarah.

The Tater Wha?!....

...and what happened to the "S" on "Admissions"?

You might notice a couple changes around this place. So, I should probably explain what's going on.

A little over a year ago, I started this blog. Since that time, I have created a message board (the previously mention Tater Board), and started three other blogs (General Photos, General Travels, General Listening). But, as the first Anniversary of the Tater Board approaches, I figured its time for some house cleaning.

So, I'm change the look of this blog -and the Tater Board- away from the look and feel of the old (and now defunct) Tyhill.com. And giving them a mild facelife. In addition, I'm going to be working harder to make the two sites work together. This change will include a greater deal of cross-linking so that readers of the board will hopefully have a better idea of what I'm posting here. And people who read this blog will now be encourage to post their thought on the Tater Board.

Finally, in the coming weeks, I may be retiring the other blogs and/or merging them with this blog. We shall see!

"But," you shout, "you still haven't explained why you dropped the 'S'!?"

Oh yeah, well that was causing some confusion for people who were trying to remember the web address for this site. So, in order to hopefully remove some confusion, I just wanted to bring the two in line with each other. Thus, the title of the blog changes!

The Fine Art of Self Distraction

Well, as if I haven't prepetually distracted myself with the World Cup (that's pretty much my new homepage), the Seattle International Film Festival and my Round the World trip, I've now also created a music blog: General Listening.

Yup, since I was having trouble staying on top of this blog, I thought the best thing to do would be to create another!

Actually, my main inspiration for starting this new blog now is that the company I work for is having an internal contest trying to inspire more people to create music blog's which contain music links to their music service, Rhapsody.com. So, hey, it allows me to help justify wasting time at work creating blog entries... if I'm doing it to support my job. And if I win: Bonus!

So anyhow, feel free to check out General Listening and let me know what you think, recommend me an album to listen to, discover a new album yourself, or -heck- just let me know if I've made any spelling errors.

Slow Blog

Hello people, sorry to my readers (all two of them) that I haven't posted much new here. Things have been pretty hectic between all the holidays and birthdays (including my 30th). So, I haven't encountered too many random and post-worthy sites and stories recently.

I have started a new blog, General Travels, in which I'll be rambling semi-incoherently about a Round the World trip that Sarah and I shall be making someday... hopefully sooner rather than later.

First Semi-Annual Follow Up Entry

Actually, I'm not entirely sure what that headline means. But, then again, the topic of this post is a little vague too. Basically, since my Blog has been going for about six months now, I've decided to go back and follow up on some of the topic I have posted on so far:

The Great Grand Everyone Map Project has effectively stalled out at 50 people. Which, on one hand isn't quite the epic project I'd envisioned; but, on the other hand, is a decent number of people.

I'm still fixated on Arthurian Legend. The next movie in my Netflix Queue is Camalot, and the subject of my NaNoWriMo novel was a modern day update of the Arthurian Legend... taking place in Seattle.

Speaking a NaNoWriMo, I tried it again, but stalled out at around 20,000 words. I was competing with a group of a half dozen friends. One of which completed her novel: Go Christine!

Still married! Yay!

I read V For Vendetta, and while I enjoyed it overall, I didn't think it was Moore's strongest work. The art was a huge struggling point for me, as was the quality of the paper the copy I read was printed on. Still, I have some interest in seeing the movie.

On his journal David Byrne recently wrote a very interesting entry talking about the link between artistic ability and schizophrenia that's worth checking out. Apparently the two appear to be genetically linked... explaining why so many artist types are also crazy types.

I haven't seen too many concerts lately. Only Arcade Fire, Broken Social Scene, and the Long Winters. I might catch MF Doom on Monday though.

The Beginning of the Beginning
